In recent years,the continuous development of BIM(Building Information Model)concept and technology has greatly improved the work efficiency and project quality of the construction industry.However,the application of this technology in the domestic ancient building protection work is still in the exploration stage.Incorporating BIM tech-nology into the field of ancient building protection with appropriate technical means will improve the efficiency and quality of ancient building information work,and broaden the application scenarios of ancient building information models.This study aims to explore a new method for parameterization of Chinese ancient structural carpentry based on BIM.Based on the analysis of the construction characteris-tics of Chinese ancient structural carpentry,combined with the understanding and practice of the new tools of BIM platform,this paper derives a method of constructing BIM model of Chinese ancient structural carpentry suitable for its construction characteristics.This method disassembles the logic of Chinese ancient structural carpentry into two parts:the overall relationship and the components,respectively,using the appropriate BIM tools for construction work,and finally the parametric integration of the two,thus completing the construction of the overall model based on BIM.For more details of this modeling method,the overall relationship of Chinese ancient structural carpentry is obtained through the relevant information in the ancient construc-tion theory,and then the Dynamo parameterization tool is used to translate this logical relationship into a computer algorithm program to form Dynamo.general axis model;the construction of the component part is based on the component type of the research object,and the Revit platform is used to build the general component library.Finally,with the parameterized driving function of the Revit platform,the Dynamo program is pro-grammed to differentiate the components and the whole Assembly work,and finally gen-erate a BIM overall model for the research example.This modeling method fully integrates the advantages of Revit and Dynamo,thus greatly improving the efficiency of building the Chinese ancient structural carpentry model based on BIM,and also facilitating the separate study of the overall logic and component details.Therefore,relying on the inherent advantages of BIM platform in in-formation management,this modeling method will undoubtedly lead to new thinking and innovation for the future development of China's ancient building protection technology.
