However, in our country, the present condition of the construction of commercial pedestrian streets is not so good. The shortage of outdoors space design, along with the widespread lack of the research on person’s behavior pattern in currently city design, has to some extent restricted the functions being exertived and perfected of pedestrian streets.As a rising and top ten commercial pedestrian street in China, JinLi has become a model of the construction of pedestrian streets due to its success. JinLi is a humanistic space, whose scale, proportion and organization accord with people’s demands and full of the milk of human kindness. Its space form takes on free, abundant, various and harmonious expression, with both uniform order and chances. This freedom contained in the certain order is always creating dramatic effects, and it makes JinLi possesses the special quality and human connotation that the modem city streets are short of. It shows us the fascination of life as well as brings the users intensive sense of domain, sense of security, and sense of subornation.Therefore, the thesis focuses the research on the utilization circumstances of this pedestrian street. The JinLi’s spatial shape characteristic, the architectural style, the material environment, person’s activity, the folk custom culture as well as the business management characteristic are carried on the analysis (folk custom culture and business management characteristic is not this article research key). Inspecting the relations between the person, activity and the place thoroughly, in view of the research conclusions and the existed questions, summarizing the successful experience and the existence insufficiency of JinLi, will provide the rationale and the design basis for the next city commercial pedestrian street’s optimization design.
