Phase-controlled AC voltage regulator is still widely used in industry because of its low cost and easy control method. The traditional analogue-controlled AC voltage regulator cannot meet the needs of regulating voltage real-timely, precisely and reliably. In order to solve the problem, a full-digitalized 3-phase phase-controlled AC voltage regulator with DSP as kernel controller and FPGA as pulse trigger was designed. It can realize the function of being able to regulate voltage as well as trace the preset load voltage level.The feedback control method of tracing the load voltage or current of 3-phase phase-controlled AC voltage regulator based on full digital control technology was mainly discussed. The means to acquire the RMS value of load voltage or current and control it were emphasized on. Meanwhile, voltage regulator’s protection method based on micro-chips was also discussed. And the load characteristic of 3-phase phase-controlled AC voltage regulator was also analyzed. By using electromagnetism transient simulation software PSCAD/EMTDC, the simulation model of 3-phase phase-controlled AC voltage regulator was constructed and the feasibility of the system was confirmed briefly.On the basis of theoretic analysis and simulation confirmation, the software and hardware of the proposed voltage regulator system are presented respectively.Based on DSP and FPGA technique, the main regulator circuit and digital controller is designed and implemented. Finally, open-loop and close-loop experiments were done on the 3-phase 380V/100A AC regulator prototype machine with different kinds of load. The experimental results show that the designed scheme of the control system is feasible and effective and can realize the desired purpose. It is stable and reliable.
