Jiangsu private enterprises are "going out" more and more and the "going out" mode is no longer confined to export, the mode of OFDI is being used more. Choosing different modes on overseas markets has an important impact on the success or failure of Jiangsu private enterprises, and mode selection is subject to a variety of factors. Therefore, this paper studies the influencing factors of Jiangsu private enterprises "going out" mode choice.Firstly, on the basis of summing up the factors likely to affect the enterprises "going out" mode selection and by the analysis of six kinds of main factors, the productivity of enterprise is finally determined as the core factor. Then the new-new trade theory is used to analyse the double effect mechanism of enterprise productivity. Taking176listed private enterprises in Jiangsu as the sample, this paper analyses the "going out" situation and the mode choice. Based on the calculated total factor productivity of146Jiangsu listed private enterprises, and using two element logit model and biprobit model to analyse various factors affecting the mode choices of exports and OFDI.The empirical results show that, although the transformation and upgrading of processing trade in Jiangsu province and the proportion of general trade increased gradually, the "productivity paradox" phenomenon still exists. The productivity paradox effect is larger than the promoting effect is the main reason of this phenomenon. In addition, political resource of enterprises promotes the export mode selection only. The reason is that political resource is helpful to enterprises export production capacity. Finally, the scale of Jiangsu private listed enterprises has no significant effect to the mode selection. This paper puts forward to improve the productivity of enterprises, processing trade value-added rate as the core policy recommendations.
