The minimum wage system is a policy conducted by the government to protect labours’ reasonable income in the event that they have fulfilled appropriate work. The reasonable income is called minimum wage standard. Minimum wage system is a method for the government to intervene in the employer’s behaviour and to protect the labour’s rights. In China, the minimum wage system has been implemented from1993and up to date it has been implemented in all the31provinces. In Zhejiang Province, it has been adjusted for14times since the first announcement of minimum wage standard in1994. However, both the theoretical analysis and implementation of the minimum wage system need improvement in China with only20years’development. The Author tried to find out the problems occurred in the process of establishing and implementation of this policy based on the analysis of the practice of minimum wage policy in Zhejiang Province and then make proper suggestions for optimization of the policy.This main content of this article can be divided into four parts. In the first part, firstly, the Author introduced the related theoretical analysis of minimum wage system in west countries and the practical methods of calculation. Secondly, the Author introduced the main views on the impact to employment of minimum wage system of the domestic experts. The conclusion is that minimum wage system is practical in China and should bring positive effect to the development of economy and society.In the second part, firstly, the Author introduced the development of minimum wage system in western countries and China. Secondly, the Author quoted the main clauses from Minimum Wage Regulation and explained the content. Thirdly, the Author analysed the target of implementation of minimum wage policy in our country.In the third part, the Author made research on the development of minimum wage policy in Zhejiang Province based on data analysis and comparison. Then the Author introduced the implementation of minimum wage policy in Zhejiang Province.In the fourth part, the Author listed the main problem during implementation of minimum wage policy in Zhejiang Province based on the analysis above. Finally, the Author made some practical and feasible suggestions on regard to the relevant problems.
