The Impact Of Regional Trade Integration On Myanmar 's Political Development

Based on the background of regional trade integration, this article focuses on the internal logic of political development in Myanmar of 2010, especially onrole and influence of political development from elite in Myanmar. Based on analysis of logical basis and research background, this article shows two different pictures of modern world. One is about the increasing political participation and competition inside every country.The other is about the developing trend of regional integration. Two pictures together show that political development and regional integration are interrelated. As the development ofinternational economic relation and regional integration, there is internal political development in some countries.Under the guidance of consensus of political development,the elite league and everything around arefocusing on democracy, development and human rights, with interest expansion and force integration. Political development plays an important role in this process. Based on the same logic and theoretical assumptions, this article focuses on the connection between trade integration and political development in Myanmar, and on what kind of political transition happened in Myanmar.As a country that just got its admission to ASEAN recently, Myanmar has different historical background and realistic option comparing to other countries. Because ofdifferent attitudes from Southeast Asian countries to the future political development and nation-building in Myanmar, Myanmar still faces many challengeson the road tofuture political development, including how to contribute to the achievement of domestic public league after the 2010 election, and how to achieve political consensus about political development and regional trade integration, and how to deal with different policies from different countries within ASEAN to Burma. These issues will be important challenges troubled Myanmar.Based on the electionof 2010, Myanmar, which has been increasingly integrated into the process of regionalization, will gradually expand the political participation from all parties andpromote the political construction and reform process in Myanmar. The analysis of Myanmaris mainly based on the country’s political development, and will provide samples for research on other countries. Theoretically, political development is the result ofinteraction betweennational elite and public, which can be tested in management and allocation of public resources, and the legal control and power. The analysis can provide a reasonable framework for Myanmar development in recent decades, especially in the 2010 election.This article is divided intointroduction and content and conclusionand other parts. Thecontent includes theoretical analysis about regional trade integration, and politicadevelopment and historical perspective of Burma’s political development andnation-building agenda, and elite league change in Myanmar during regional tradeintegration process, and path to achieve political consensus in Myanmar. There aresome key pointsin this article. First, political development in Myanmar will alsoprovide ideas for the study of development of entire Southeast Asian region. SecondMyanmar political development has a long way to go. Third, through interaction withthe public, beyond the differences and conflicts, with reasonable standards andconcepts, Myanmar has reached a preliminary political consensus, and thenconstructed a federal state system that is multi-ethnic and full of spirit of opennessand cooperation.
