Abstract/Summary:
With opening of the international market environment, nowadays more and more engineering-construction companies go global. China’s engineering & construction enterprises in oil and gas field are facing more and more fierce competition in the international market. So far, projects undertaken by Chinese companies mainly concentrated in the Central Asia, Middle East, Africa and other relatively backward countries and regions. The business structure of Chinese companies is relatively in a low level. It’s difficult for them to enter the high-end market. The main reason is that the project management level of Chinese enterprises lags behind the international advanced level, and there is still a big disparity between international large companies and Chinese companies. In order to gain a foothold in the fierce international market and enter into the high-end market, China’s engineering-construction enterprises in the oil and gas field need to improve their project management level to be in line with international standards.Z engineering-construction company is a state-owned engineering-construction company in the oil and gas field. The company has completed more than 200 oil and gas projects in more than 50 countries and regions in the Middle East, Central Asia, Africa and so on, involving oil and gas gathering and transferring, oil refining, oil and gas reservoir, power plant and other large projects in the feasibility study, design, environmental assessment, evaluation, construction, supervision and EPC general contracting. With its increasingly enriched international experience, the project management level of Z engineering-construction company improved greatly, but compared with big international engineering-construction company in the oil and gas field, there is still a long way to go. At present, the management method of Z company is still relatively extensive and unsystemic. The company didn’t use sufficient tools and methods in risk, cost, quality, schedule management etc., and not pay attention to the accumulation of historical experience, which led it lack of competitiveness in the increasingly competitive international market.The diagnosis report took the project management of Z engineering-construction company as the diagnosis object, mainly used interviewing, benchmarking analysis and risk assessment as the diagnosis methods, based on the full investigation, research and analysis on the status quo of project management of the company, compared it with the requirements of the project management theory and advanced experience of project management in the same industry, made a diagnosis of the main problems existing in the project management process of the company, and put forward targeted suggestions or opinions on project management, so as to help engineering-construction companies improve their project management, and enhance the competitiveness of the company in the field of the international energy engineering and construction.
