Labor relation is an important factor affecting social stability, people’s living and production efficiency and also an important problem that each country must face in the development and construction. With the development of market economic system in our country, capital strength has been enhanced, the legitimate rights of laborers can hardly be fully safeguard. Especially in recent years, the collective labor disputes are quantity and severe, which indicate labor conflicts have become one of the urgent problem in our country. Collective bargaining system, which has been proved by the developed market economic countries, is an effective way to ease labor conflicts and promote the harmony of labor relations. However, collective bargaining system in our country is still not mature yet. Because of the needs of workers’ widely participation, whether the system appeals to workers’ behavior patterns and thinking preference would be an important issue related to the efficiency. Therefore, further research on collective bargaining system from the cultural angle would have great significance both in theory and in practice.This thesis is based on Hofstede’s cultural dimensions theory and verifies the influence of culture on main characteristics of collective bargaining by using quantitative analysis, comparative analysis and other methods. Several suggestions based on these analyses have been given in the end. In addition to the introduction and conclusion, this article mainly includes five parts:The first part is the literature review. The review and summary of researches related to collective bargaining, culture and their relationship provide some theoretical support for the research of this paper.The second part verifies relationship between cultural dimensions and characteristics of the collective bargaining. By the application of SPSS16.0 into the collected data regression analysis, it validates the effect of culture on the collective bargaining system.The third part is the analysis of the characteristics of typical countries’ collective bargaining. Mainly carries on the analysis of collective bargaining characteristics of United States, Germany and Japan from the perspective of culture to support and supplement for the results of the data analysis above and further illustrate the relationship between culture and collective bargaining characteristics.The fourth part is the investigation of collective bargaining operation and cultural dimensions in China. Through the analysis of the current situation of collective bargaining and cultural background to research the adaptability between our country’s collective bargaining system and cultural and to find room for improvement.The fifth part is the policy recommendations. Based on the analyses above, put forward proposals from four aspects, namely bargaining subjects, structure, function of government and legal construction.
