A Case Study Of MRO Material Management Improvement Project

As more and more companies realize the MRO materials management level needs to be improved, and take the MRO material cost optimization as a new source of cost saving to enhance profits, MRO materials management gradually been paying attention to domestic enterprises and input more and more management resources. This paper attempts to introduce the Company A’s MRO materials management case studies, sharing the entire project implementation process, experience, detours, hoping to provide some domestic counterparts as reference, so as to enhance the domestic MRO materials management.In this paper, the status quo for the company A’s MRO management and MRO supplier management, MRO management and related processes confusion and MRO material requirements forecasting and inventory management databases disorder and other issues detailed summary and analysis. Base on this, combined with the relevant theoretical approaches, such as ABC-XYZ category management, supply chain integration theory and MRO material demands forecasting methods and the author’s own experience from working practice and exploration, proposed and implemented the company A’s MRO improvement program. With the integration of theory based on supplier and EDI electronic data interchange, the depth cooperation with suppliers, improved the MRO supply chain operational efficiency and service levels; ABC-XYZ can be accurately classified on the MRO materials, which will guide manage resources more precise configuration, and take lower inventory levels and meet higher service; with the moving averages and seasonal adjustment methods, the MRO materials to predict the level of service to ensure the basis of the established, further reduce inventory levels. A company which basically solved the MRO management in the three categories of problems, making the A’s MRO management improved, also the MRO Dept. become the model of a cost saving department.
