The iron and steel industry as an important strategic pillar industry of the national economy, is an important index to measure the level of regional economic development. Known as’the world steel first province’, Hebei iron and steel production have ranked first in China for 14years since the 21st century. In 2014, Hebei’s crude steel output reached 185 million tons, accounting for 22.49% of the total output of China’s crude steel productions, its assets and profits accounted for more than 25% of the total industry in Hebei province, contributing to a huge social and economic development in Hebei province. At present, there are more than 150 iron and steel enterprises in Hebei province, including Hebei Iron and Steel Group, China’s largest steel producer, which ranks third in the world, as well as many small and medium-sized private steel enterprises. And that enterprises in the high dependence on foreign iron ore resources, high rates of assets and liabilities under the condition of the operation is becoming more difficult, low benefit. At the same time air pollution problems like haze has become increasingly severe, high emissions and pollution problems of iron and steel production is in the teeth of the storm. In the mode of circulare economy based on the iron and steel industry, both ecological and environmental benefit, economic benefit and social benefit and sustainable development is the only road to promote the Hebei iron and steel industry upgrade, become the world strong steel and iron province.Based on the sustainable development of the iron and steel industry in Hebei province, this paper analyzes the present present situation and problems in Hebei province, than put forwards the promoting suggestions in the aspects of the sustainable developments.
