At present, the development of retail banking is facing many challenges:economic slowdown, economic restructuring, non-performing loans ratio to rebound; increasingly stringent regulation, the gradual market-oriented interest rate, narrowing savings and loan spreads; increasing external competition, large and small banks everywhere, third-party payment vying payments, P2P and other low threshold of Internet financial impact of savings and wealth management business, crowdfunding snatching financing sources of funds, which is causing a serious loss of bank funds and customers; living standards improving and a general increase in income, which is accelerating the upgrade of financial needs. Retail banking’s original model of development has been unable to adapt to the changing environment, and can not meet the needs of modern finance. Big data is given the national attention and has been successfully applied in other industries, and retail banking has a huge amount of data waiting for the development and utilization, so in this paper, big data applications,which can achieve transformation in services,marketing and management decisions,are a breakthrough for retail banking to enhance the core competitiveness.This paper mainly studies big data applications for retail banking, using the method of comparative analysis and the combination of theory and practice.By reading a lot of literature and by comparison with competitors, conducted a comprehensive analysis of status quo,application system construction and data usage of the retail banking of A commercial bank, identified existing problems,and studied on viable options for transformation and upgrading,which is the construction of big data application system for A commercial bank. Though the system construction, achieved data integration, analysis and application, got a comprehensive understanding of customers, identified customer needs,promoted efficient marketing and scientific decision-making,and eventually converted big data to actual core competitiveness of retail banking. Provided references for the development of the corporate banking business,and the innovation of the retail business of other banks.This paper has two innovations.First, proposed a lifting scheme for A commercial bank’s retail business based on big data applications.Conducted a thorough analysis of the internal and external status of A commercial bank’s retail business, and identified problems in customer management, marketing management and management decision-making, re-examined the data resources from the perspective of big data, and proposed the feasible option of using big data technologies to improve business. Second,built the big data application system for A commercial bank’s retail business. Studied on big data technologies and tools,built the big data application system,researched on data acquisition, storage and analysis,gained in-depth understanding of customers, dug customer needs for efficient marketing, provided scientific statistical data to optimize management decisions, and effectively enhanced A commercial bank’s retail business.
