The Study On The Dynamic Mechanism Of The Development Of Small Towns In Resource-based Regions

As the transition regions of urban- rural integration, small towns play an important role in the Urban and Rural Harmonious and promoting rural development. And the small towns in resource-based areas face a double dilemma. On the one hand they have to face the region’s overall economic decline, which was caused by resource depletion and market changes, on the other hand they have to face the lack of dynamic mechanism. The development of small towns in Shanxi Province is the most typical example. After experiencing the golden period of coal resources, the economic and social development in Shanxi Province are suffering a rapid recession.And the development of small towns is very slow, which hardly plays a relevant role in driving the Rural Development. So this article takes Shanxi Province as an example to research the Dynamic mechanism of the development of small towns in resource-based regions, and tries to find some solutions at the source to promote the healthy development of small towns.The chapter 1 introduces the research background and some important concepts definition, and reviews the researches on small towns’development in resource-based regions at home and aboard, including the Dynamic mechanism of the development of small towns, features of small towns in resource-based regions, and some researches of small towns in Shanxi Province. The chapter 2 introduces the history, current situations and the main difficulties of the small towns’development in Shanxi Province.The chapter 3 and 4 are the core of this article, which respectively introduce the construction and interpretation of the dynamic mechanism system of small towns’development in resource-based regions, and an Case Analysis of Small Towns in Shanxi Province based on the system. The system construction in chapter 3 is based on the literature researches, some theoretical references and understandings of resource-based regions. The system includes internal factors, external factors and the mechanisms design, which was the basis of empirical analysis. The case analysis in chapter 4 includes data analysis and field interviews.The chapter 5 is the conclusion of this article, which finds the problems of these small towns, and proposes some new understandings about the connotation of these towns’development including targets and paths. And finally the article makes some recommendations on these small towns’ development in Shanxi Province and resource-based regions.
