The Research Of Technology Acquisition And Reverse Technology Spillovers In Chinese Outward Foreign Direct Investment

This paper is based on the analysis of the theory of international investment and current situation of Chinese outward foreign direct investment, in theory, using the "advanced technology of host countries- overseas subsidiaries- its parent company" technology acquisition paths, to study whether acquiring reverse technology spillover through Chinese enterprises outward foreign direct investment, improving the technical level of enterprises, empirical study using panel data of China’s manufacturing 140 listing Corporation that had taken overseas investment in 2007 to 2014. By micro level data empirical test of Chinese Listed Companies, the results showed that most of the enterprises in our country by R & D investment in host country to obtain reverse technology spillover, enterprise direct invest in countries that have many R & D inputs, can make the rich technical resources in host countries, diffuse in overseas subsidiaries of Chinese enterprises, and by overseas subsidiaries transfer back to the parent company, to promote the technical capability of the parent company. And the technology seeking outward foreign direct investment, more is by the host country’s R & D personnel to obtain reverse technology spillover, enterprises through building plants in countries that are rich in R & D personnel resource, can directly using local rich technical research and development personnel,acquire knowledge spillover, and raise the technological capabilities of enterprises.Therefore, the government should improve the overall bill of China’s outward foreign direct investment,encourage Chinese enterprises to invest overseas, and established good diplomatic relations with the advanced technology investment target country, create a favorable investment environment for domestic enterprises to carry out the technology seeking outward foreign direct investment.
