Investigation On The Effect Of Key Roles On Cooperation Quality In Major Research Teams

With the mission of solving major scientific problems that are critical to our national economy and social development, major scientific projects is an important method to improve the innovation ability and International Technology Competitiveness of our country, and it has played important roles in the national scientific plan. While our country has made plentiful achievements, some scientific projects are considered as not constructive and innovative enough to meet the expectation when establishing those scientific projects. These phenomena is caused by multiple factors from inside and outside. From the view inside of the team, one of the major reason is the cooperation within the team is not effective and close enough and the cooperativity still has much to improve. Therefore, how to improve the quality of cooperation in major scientific team then becomes an issue needs to be investigate.This paper mainly focuses on people’s initiative in the team level. From the view of team roles, the key role that a major scientific team should have and how they should function is investigated in this study. Meanwhile, the cooperation quality is comprehensively described and measured, to study the effect of key role on cooperation quality in different aspect, finally, the empirical model and hypotheses is proposed. Based on questionnaires of 159 valid samples, empirical analysis is conducted to verify hypotheses and following conclusions is made:(1) task leadership function can significantly promote communication, collaboration, mutual assistance, efforts and contributions of balanced of the teamwork quality;(2) emotional leadership function can significantly promote mutual assistance, efforts and cohesion, while has positive impact on collaboration and communication but not significant;(3) cross-border activity function has a significant positive impact on communication, assistance and collaboration.Finally, based the results of the above investigation, some suggestions is proposed regarding the major scientific team management:(1) role of integrity should be incorporated into the project evaluation by department of science and technology management;(2) a special team should be set up to assist Chief Scientist to manage and coordinate the team;(3) a contact person should be appointed in a team to promote the effectiveness of timely delivery and exchange of information.
