With the rapid development of modern radar technology, the application of radar is becoming more and more professional. Radar is not only widely used in military, but also in civil aviation field, such as weather radar, aviation control radar, remote sensing radar, and speed measuring radar and so on. The Doppler radar in airport terminal area is improved on the basis of weather radar, which focuses on the detection of the fifty kilometers around the airport especially in airport terminal area of some busiest airports. The Doppler weather radar is very different from the general weather radar in the terminal area of the airport, so there are higher requirements for the performance of the antenna servo, transmitter and receiver of the Doppler weather radar. The whole system is coherent, which functions as highly precision, resolution, reliability, and stability.This paper describes the development of weather radar at home and abroad, detection theory and theoretical analysis of radar, and key technology and basic structure of the Doppler weather radar in airport terminal area.This paper mainly realizes the design of part device of radar transmitter and receiver and then completes the prototype. In this paper, we first analyze the main technical index, work principle, modulation mode and composition of radar transmitter. Then the solid state amplifier, fly-back charging and RF amplification link of the transmitter are analyzed and designed. In the receiver part, the scheme of receiver is mainly studied in this paper. The design of the low noise amplifier and the mixer circuit of the receiver front-end circuit are designed. Based on the existing mature technology, we determine the design scheme of transmitter and receiver system, and finally complete the prototype. The analysis to the key testing technology of RF emitting part is proposed, and the testing process is given in detail. Finally, the power and envelope of transmitter, and the sensitivity of receiver are measured, the results show that our design meet the requirement.
