The key technoloies of pollution-free yam cultivation in Jilin Province were studied in thispaper. Firstly, the preserved state and the emergence of yam bulbil was checked to select the beststorage method. Secondly, the optimal growth agent was determined by comparing the differentagent effect to the yield and quality of yam. Then the suitable yam harvest period was selectd bydetermining the content of diosgenin and yield of yam in different periods. Finally, severalpesticide residues in yam were detected by gas chromatographic technique. The main results areas follows:1.Comparison study of different storage methods showed that preserved state and theseedling rate of yam were better under refrigation drying condition. Yield and quality of yamwas improved which their bulbils were kept in refrigation drying condition.2. Comparison study of different growth agents showed that chlormequat chlorides sprayimproved the production and quality of yam. Chlormequat chloride also increased the diameterand length of yam tuber, and improved the average production of yam to3300kg/667m2. Also, the dry matter, starch, soluble protein, alcohol-soluble extactive, disogenin content of yam wereimproved by chlormequat chlorides spray.3. Comparison study of different yam harvest periods showed that when recovered the yamin early October got highest yam production and high diosgenin content. Diosgenin content inyam had been not always increasing in the whole growth period, reached a peak in Septemberthat was0.1024%. The highest production were got when harvest in early October.4. There is no pesticides residues in samples of yam which analysis the quality andquantity by gas chromatograph.
