The prevalences of Ticks and the Tick-borne diseases in different parts ofQinghai Province were studied in the research from March2012to December2013,which mainly included the following contents:1. Ticks prevalence survey in Huzhu,Hualong, Minhe, Gonghe, Wulan, Huangyuan, Guinan etc, totally10areas;2. Thepreliminary morphological identification on sheep-parasitic Ticks in HuangyuanDongxia, Guomaying, Nanmenxia, Guanting, Zhaba, Xiligou, Jinzihai;3.comparisonof the micro-structures of Dermacentor nuttalli and Haemaphysalis qinghaiensisthrough scanning electron microscopy (SEM) technique;4. Serological survey onthe infection of Theileriasis on yaks and sheep in Tianjun, Qinghai province;5. Theinvestigation of Giardia in the body of Tick specimens collected in the seven districtslisted above. The results indicated that:1. Among all the10districts investigated,Ticks can be found every year inother districts, except Lierbao and Xigou;2. According to the identification, sheep-parasitic Tick species wasDermacentor nuttalli in all other investigated areas except Huangyuan Dongxiawhile Dermacentor nuttalli and Haemaphysalis qinghaiensis Ticks were both foundon the sheep groups in Huangyuan Dongxia;3. By electron microscope scanning, differences on Haller’s organ, hypostome, porose area and palmula between different Tick species were found, which can beused as indicators for species identification;4. The average infection rate of Theileriasis on yaks in Tianjun, Qinghai was24.18%,and the highest infection rate was found in group aged2-3, which was29.86%;the average infection rate of Theileriasis on sheep was18.68%,and thehighest infection rate was found in group younger than1, which was28.18%;5. In the epidemiological investigation on sheep-parasitic Ticks infectednaturally by Piroplasma. Theileria uilenbergi was found in the bodies of Ticksspecimens collected from Guinan and Huangyuan. Theileria luwenshuni was foundin the bodies of Ticks specimens collected from Guinan, Huangyuan, Minhe,Wulanand Hualong.
