In the sugarcane harvest process with machine, harvest loss and multi-year rootbroken is commonly existing, and this phenomenon is inevitable. If the loss andbroken rate is too high, the sugarcane farmers’ economic income and the next year’sshooting rate should seriously drop. So how to reduce thet loss and broken ratebecomes an important task.There are some factors which cause harvest loss and root broken, and the heightbetween the cutting plate and the sugarcane field surface in the process of sugarcaneharvest is one of the important factors. Because of the sugarcane growing in the hillyfield that is very rugged and grassy and the sugarcane leafs are rather long and dense,to detect the height of the field and to control the height between the cutting plate andthe field surface become very difficult.In order to solve this difficult technical problem, this paper studies and designs aposition control system to make the cutting plate moving up and down with thesugarcane field surface, and it can effectively reduce the harvest loss and multi-yearroot broken. This system combines some technologies to archive this target, such asmechanics, hydraulics, transducer, computer and electronics.This paper designs one type of field surface detector based on curved swing arm,and in order to test its feasibility and advantage, it is simulated about kinesiology anddynamics under the software of Adams. Designs the hydraulic system with the electro-proportional technology, and tests the validity and feasibility of the hydraulic systemand the PID control algorithm with the software of AMESim to simulate the hydraulicsystem. Designs the hardware circuit with MSP430F149and programs the controlsoftware with C language, and at last tests them. The monitor software in PC isdesigned with VC++6.0, and the program language is C++. The key parts of thedesign are tested and verified in laboratory, and the result reaches primary target, that is to say it can meet requirement.
