Guangzhou Urban Road Greening Tree Species And Configuration Investigation

Urban Road and street are the "artery" and "lifeline" of a city. Urban Road and street Greening is one of the most important parts for road environment and is also the important component in urban landscape system. For creating a good impression of the city and reflecting the city’s character and culture, urban road greening is a very significant index. Scientific and rational way to create a landscape of plants can not only build a good image of the city, but also provide a sound ecological, beautiful, friendly an pleasant, the rich local cultural characteristics of the environment for the urban residents. Therefore, the study of urban road plant landscaping plays an important role on the sustainable development of city plant landscape and plant landscape construction in modern urban. In this paper198Urban Roads and streets Greening of Guangzhou were investigated and the suggestions of improvements on road and street greening were put forward.The main results showed as follows:1. Street trees in Guangzhou urban roads total119(including species of the following).Street tree was arbor which belonging to38families and68genus, respectively. Native tree species account for53.47%. Main tree species were Ficus microcarpa L., Ficus lacor Buch. Ham., Chukrasia tabularisA.Juss, Bischofia javanica Bl, Mangifera indica Linn, Prunus amygdalus Batsch, Bauhinia blakeana Dunn, Lagerstroemia speciosa (L.) Pers., Aleurites moluccana (L.)Willd, Syzygium jambos (L.) Alston,et al. Syzygium cumini (L.), Khaya senegalensis (Desr.) A. Juss., Bombax malabaricum DC, Mangifera indica Linn, Prunus amygdalus Batsch, Ormosia pinnata (Lour.) Merr., Bischofia javanica Bl, Ficus microcarpa L., Chukrasia tabularis A.Juss, Cinnamomum camphora (Linn.)Presl, Cinnamomum burmannii, Ficus benjamina L., Ficus altissima BL., Elaeocarpus apiculatus Mast, Dracontomelon duperreanum Pierre, Bauhinia blakeana Dunn, Delonix regia (Bojea)Raf, Michelia x alba, Lagerstroemia speciosa (L.) Pers., Alstonia scholaris, Pterocarpus indicus, Cleidiocarpon cavaleriei(Levl.)Airy-Shaw, Syzygium jambos (L.) Alston, et al. Suitable as the backbone of tree species. Ficus lacor Buch. Ham., Cassia surattensis Burm.f.and so on. could be used as street trees trees.186kinds of shrubs and herbaceous plants were used under street trees. Foliage plants dominated, relatively few viewing, view of fruit plants.2. The greening of overpass, pedestrian bridges and viaducts had flower city characteristics. Green plants in deck were bougainvillea spectabilis wind. Formation flyover ’Momochi flower Gallery’ of rainbow landscape. Hymenocallis littoralis, Syngonium podophyllum, Schefflera octophylla (Lour.) Harms as the green plants under the bridge.3. The main form of the allocation of the sidewalk greenbelt were evergreen trees+shrubs+groundcovers, evergreen trees+deciduous flowering trees+shrubs+color leaf plants, palm+flowering shrubs+ground cover plants. The main form of the allocation of isolated green areas were evergreen tree+shrubs cricket+color leaf shrub patches+flower+ground cover plants, shrubs cricket+color leaf shrub patches+ground cover plants, flowering trees+colored leaf shrub+flowering shrub+evergreen shrubs+ground cover plants, palm+color leaf shrub/flowering shrub+ground cover plants. Main configuration of dividing greenbelts were evergreen trees+shrubs ball+ground cover plants.4. Guangzhou was typical scenery south city, city road greening showed typical subtropics custom plant landscape, and had a profound cultural connotation.
