Master Candidate:Li Wenchao (Deparment of Forest Protection) Directed by Professor Wu San-anBamboo is a group of perennial evergreen plants that constitute the subfamily Bambusoideae of family Poaceae, has been utilized by human societies in many aspects such as ornamental, medicinal and so on. It is an indispensable and renewable resource to human daily life. Mealybugs belong to Hemiptera, Coccoidea, Pseudococcidae. By the end of2013, there are42species in21genera mealybugs with legs on bamboo in the world. Some species seriously affect bamboo growth in some areas.Based on slide-making, observing and identifying a lot of specimens, the bamboo mealybugs species with legs of China were studied. The result shows that mealybugs with legs on bamboo in China are very rich, there are totally22species in14genera to be recorded. Among them, three species are new to science, i.e. Balanococcus zhejiangensis sp. nov., Dysmicoccus luoyangensis sp. nov. and Trionymus indocalamus sp. nov.; Balanococcus kwoni Pellizzari&Danzig is new record to China; One new combination is established, Formicococcus bambusus (Wu) comb. Nov.. In addition,15species are described in detail with13illustrations; a key is given to bamboo mealybugs species with legs of China; and some ecological photos are provided.
