In recent years, with the strategic adjustment of the fishery industrial structure, the fisherybreeding industry becomes more and more important in the industry structure. As an advantageindustry, prawn breeding gets rapid development, and achieves good economic benefits, which isgiven priority to litopenaeus vannamei breeding. Longhai City of Fujian province is a dense areaof aquacultural litopenaeus vannamei, including Haicheng, Dongsi, Baishui, etc. During theperiod of2003to2004and the period of2005to2007, it obtained respectively the provincialand the national "Longhai City Litopenaeus Vannamei Aquacultural StandardizationDemonstration Zone" in the construction of agricultural standardization demonstration areaprojects. Meanwhile, the rapid development of litopenaeus vannamei breeding industry, and theaquaculture area of30000mu, accounting for50%of the southern region of Fujian Province,all of these bring good economic benefits for the local businesses, which has thus become one ofthe local pillar industries.The characteristics and the related basic knowledge of litopenaeus vannamei will be statedin this paper. In addition, the litopenaeus vannamei breeding models, and the influential factorswill also be analyzed, which will provide a theoretical basis for litopenaeus vannameiaquacultural development. At the same time, through the household surveys and the collection ofhistorical data and related information, the present situation and the existing problems ofLonghai City litopenaeus vannamei breeding will be summarized. Furthermore, on the basis ofthe questionnaire, the full use of the methods of theoretical and case analysis, as well as themicroscopic and macroscopic analysis, the current litopenaeus vannamei breeding difficultiesand development bottlenecks in Longhai City will be analyzed, too.
