Shaoxing duck is an excellent germplasm resource in China, which is especially famous for high egg production. Improving the yield and quality of eggs has always been the most important goal for the breeders in laying ducks breeding practice, nevertheless, performance of growth and slaughter are ignored, especially male breeder. If normal growth and development of male was influenced, it ultimately reduced economic benefits for loss early of breeding value and low fertilization ratio. According to situation above, principal component analysis were performed for body weight and body size in Shaoxing ducks. Meanwhile, SNPs of PPARyand GH genes were screened by directly gene sequencing and the correlation with performance of growth and slaughter were analyzed. The results are as follows.1.9indexes of body weight and body size of Shaoxing duck were detected and principal components accounted for50%of total variation were analyzed. According to characteristic root and contribution of principal components, semi-diring length, body weight, body length, keel bone length and shin-bone length have the greatest contribution. It suggests that those indexes should be considered for breeding.2. SNPs of PPARyand GH genes were screened by directly gene sequencing, namely PPARy8169A>C, GH2514G>A and GH2691T>C.x2test revealed that all loci were in the balance of Hardy-Weinberg (P>0.05).3. Statistical analysis indicated that12weeks semi-diving length and53weeks diving length of individuals with genotype CC of PPARy were significantly higher than that of individuals with genotype AA (P<0.05), and8weeks body weight was significantly lower than individuals with genotype AA (P<0.05) using least square method. For GH(2514G>A&2691T>C),6weeks body weight,8weeks body weight,12weeks keel bone length,53weeks chest width, breast meat weight, abdominal fat weight and abdominal fat rate of individuals with genotype CC were significantly higher than that of individuals with genotype TT (P<0.05).
