Body size and indexes of carcass traits are the most important indiactors to detect the productive performances of animals.White King Pigeon is an excellent germplasm resource in China,which is especially popular for people.In this study,the body weights,7 indexes of body sizes and 7 indexes of carcass traits of White King Pigeon at 28 days were measured and the correlations among these traits were analyzed.Meanwhile,SNPs of GHR and MSTN genes were screened by directly gene sequencing and their correlation with performances of growth and slaughter were analyzed.This study would provide useful data for the breeding practice in pigeon.The results are as follows.(1)The body weight,7 indexes of body sizes and 7 indexes of carcass traits of White King Pigeon at 28 days were measured and the correlations among these traits were analyzed.Results showed that the body weight had significant positive correlation(P<0.01)to body slanting length,keel length,chest deep,chest width and shank girth.Regression models between body weight and body slanting length,chest deep,keel length,crista iliac breadth and slaughter performance indexes(slaughter weight,eviscerated weight,breast muscle weight,leg muscle weight,abdominal muscle weight)between other body size parameters(body slanting length,chest deep,crista iliac breadth,keel length,abdominal fat weight)were all established in a result of significantly or extremely significant F test.(2)The SNPs of GHR gene and MSTN gene were screened through direct PCR sequencing,and 6 SNPs in GHR gene and 1 SNPs in MSTN gene of White King Pigeon were detected.Those SNPs are C264T?G410A?C992T?T1060C?G1160T?T1197A and C114T.The mutations of single-base of 6 SNPs(except G410A sites)would cause the change of the encoded amino acid.(3).Least square analysis indicated that crista breadths of the individuals with genotype CT and CC of the C264T mutation site of GHR gene were significantly higher than individuals with genotype TT(P<0.05).Leg muscle weight of individuals with genotype CT of the C992T mutation site of GHR gene were significantly higher than individuals with genotype TT(P<0.05).In the T1060C mutation sites of GHR gene,individuals with different genotypes have no significant difference in body size and carcass traits.In the T1197A mutation sites of GHR gene,the least square analysis indicates that the genotype TA and TT is significantly superior to AA in crystal iliac breadth(P<0.01).In the C1306T mutation sites of GHR gene,the least square analysis indicates that the genotype CC is significantly higher than that of individuals with genotype TT in body slanting length(P<0.05).(4)Least square analysis,indicated that abdominal fat weights of individuals with genotype CT of the C114T mutation site of MSTN gene were significantly higher than individuals with genotype CC(P<0.05).
