Alfalfa is a kind of perennial legume, which, in the northern area, can be mowed three or four crops. When stored in a way of airing in the sun, much nutrition in alfalfa will lose, because it is exposed to the sun and rain, and the leaves fall off. But when stored in a way of ensiling, not only the nutrition, such as leaf protein lose less, but also the palatability and feed intake are improved. The thesis takes the first crop of two-year-old alfalfa as experimental material, and collect the fresh samples respectively in vegetation stage, bud stage, early blooming stage, full blooming stage and seed bearing stage to analyze comparatively their nutritional quality and fermentation parameters. The conclusion is that the alfalfa mowed in full blooming stage is suitable for being stored in the way of airing. The alfalfa mowed in early blooming stage is suitable for being stored in the way of being ensiled. According to this, thesis has ensiled fresh alfalfa in its early blooming stage and conduct experiment. By setting control group and adding15mg/kg cellulose,0.5%sodium chloride and the mixture of them, the thesis studies the effect that the cellulose and sodium chloride bring to the ensiled alfalfa’s fermentation quality as well as nutritional quality. The results under laboratory conditions show that the fermentation and nutritional quality are both improved in a certain degree after adding cellulose and sodium chloride. The difference is p<0.05. But the fermentation and nutritional quality are improved much after adding the mixture of cellulose and sodium chloride. The difference is p<0.01.Tkaing PH, organic acid, and ammoniacal nitrogen etc as the main basis to judge the ensiling result, we can conclude that the mixture of cellulose and sodium chloride is better than cellulose, cellulose is better than sodium chloride, sodium chloride is better than control group.
