The tea aphid, Toxoptera aurantii Boyer, also called as black citrus aphid,have evolved into a specific species of pest on tea plant during the past severaldecades years, distributing throughout the Chinese tea growing area. It preferrs topierce and suck up the sap of tea shoots, which result in tea shoots to stagnate, andexcretes honeydrop to breed the tea sooty mould which depresses the photosynthesis.The frequently used control methods were both the frequently plucking tea shoots inbatches and chemical control. However, tea shoots were the raw material, chemicalcontrol was not used so as to avoided residue in teas. Therefore, the researchs onnon-pollution control of the tea aphid appear the practical value. In this work, thegreen control of the tea aphid with aphid sexual pheromones and sticky board traps asagents were executed; at the same time, the resistance of the various tea cultivarsagainst the tea aphid was evaluated by the Electrical Penetration Graphy (EPG).Those could be referred to the control of the tea aphid. The results were as follows:1The colored sticky boards with aphid sex pheromones displayed the strongtrapping effect on the male adult aphids and the partial female adult aphids in lastautumn:(1) November14-21in2012, the twelve types of colored sticky boardswere placed in a block of non-pollution tea plantations in the Southern JiangshuProvince, to trap the tea aphids and other insects; the results showed that the tea aphidwas a document species, to whom the jasmine yellow boards disclosed the strongestattraction; The caught dominant groups were Homoptera, Coleoptera, Neuroptera,Diptera, Lepidoptera, Hymenoptera and Hemiptera, in which Homoptera,Hymenoptera and Diptera occupied the largest abundance.(2) The effect of bothaphid sex pheromone and jasmine yellow sticky boards were additive. One board wasattached with one lure. At the high dosage, those that one lure held1mgnepeta-lactone and9mg nepetalactol had caught the most tea aphids, and the averageof the aphid was364each board every24hours in the experimental duration of nine days. At the low dosage, those that one lure held0.33mg nepeta-lactone and2.97mgnepetalactol had caught the most tea aphids, and the average of the aphid was72eachboard every24hours in the experimental duration of six days. Tea aphids possessedthe temporal rhythm and the obvious activity between15:00and17:00, during thestage the more catches were got.(3) the adjusted reduction ratio of the aphids in thehigh dage sex pheromone trapping area and only sticky colored boards trapping areawere17.2%and11.3%in April4,2013.(4) The boards with aphid sex pheromonesdisplayed the attraction to Chrysopa septempunctata and Chrysopa sinica.2Based on the duration length of the feeding wave E1and E2and theemergencing frequency of E1and E2and other parameters characterized theresistance against aphids, the resistance were graded by means of cluster analysis andvariance analysis. The resistance from ten tested cultivars listed in turn from strong toweak: Anjibaicha> Jiukengzao> Ningbohuangjinya> Longjing43> Wuniuzao>Pingyangtezao> Maolv> Zhongcha108> Longjingchangye> Zhongcha102. Theresistance from Anjibaicha was the strongest, the next was Jiukengzao and Ningbo-huangjinya. The Longjing43, Maolv, Pingyangtezao and Wuniuzao were weak, andZhongcha108and Longjingchangye were weaker. And the latter two cultivars wereliked by the tea aphid, whose mesophyll tissue were easy to be pierced through. TheZhongcha102was the weakest,whose duration length of E2was the longest.In summary, based on the the attraction of aphid sex pheromones and boards totea aphids and lacewings, the formula of sex pheromones with the strong attraction tothe aphid and the combining method of sex pheromones with the boards weredeveloped. At another hand, the attraction of the combination of aphid sexpheromones was affirmed. The resistance of Anjibaicha etc. against tea aphid wasdisclosed by EPG techniques. Those above can be referred for the control of teaaphid.
