Nanxiao No.18, used as both food and fodder, is developed by Guangxi Agricultural Vocational and Technical College by crossing inbred lines Nan99and Nan70-3. As it passed the variety certification of Guangxi Province in2003and its introduction was approved by Guizhou Province in2006, it is suitable for large-scale cultivation in Guangxi and Guizhou Province and so on. However, it has not witnessed an ideal consequence in its application and popularization in recent years. Therefore, this thesis carries out a research focused on seed production techniques, cultivation techniques and popularization modes of Nanxiao NO.18through the methods of document analysis, market survey and experiment comparison in order to provide technical support for the future popularization and application of Nanxiao NO.18and put forward corresponding popularization strategies. The main results are as follows:(1) Complex physioclimate, backward planting techniques and relatively few fine varieties are all limitations of corn production’s development in Guangxi Province. As a consequence, there are two major means to improve the current low level of corn’s yield per unit in Guangxi and the big demand gap, namely to promote high quality hybrid flint corn varieties and to generalize efficient, simple and safe cultivation techniques.(2) With favorable yielding ability, resistance and comparatively high crude protein content, Nanxiao NO.18is appropriate for the processing of concentrated feed and it can meet the demand of Guangxi’s future industrialized production. Nevertheless, there are obstacles of the popularization of Nanxiao NO.18, namely the low hybrid seed yield, unstable hybrid seed quality, low yield of field production and lagging popularization and so on.(3) The hybrid seed yield of Nanxiao NO.18is the highest when the male parent is sowed after the female parent has sent forth2.5(1.5for autumn sowing) unfolding leaves with the ratio between parental line1:6and the planting density of54000/hm2. Besides, the yield is the highest when the planting density is54000/hm2with scientific field management and sufficient water and fertilizer. Combining with the characters of Nanxiao NO.18and the physioclimate of Guangxi Province, the thesis establishes the high yield and high quality production technical system of Nanxiao NO.18and the improved varieties and methods’high yield cultivation technique system. In the spring exemplary seed production experiment of2011, the yield per unit is4875.9kg/hm2. While in the spring exemplary field production test of2012, it is9138.15kg/hm2.(4) We should take full advantage of the strengths of Nanxiao No.18. to set up a three-dimensional integrated popularization model "Research institutes+Enterprise" and to establish a scientific and efficient agricultural science and technology industrial chain "Seed Production-Popularization-Plantation-Utilization" which is consistent with Guangxi’s local characteristics so as to achieve the rapid transformation of scientific and technological achievements. It is predicted that the annual generalized planting area can cover more than thirty thousand hectares and the enterprises’selling profit of seed may equal to4.05million yuan.
