Cassava’s mechanized harvesting is weak in the cassava planting. As the current domestic cassava harvesters are at the experimental research stage, there’s no mature model, developed harvesting machineries are at low levels in the automation control.The foreign cassava harvesters are more but not suitable for our country. Therefore,it’s meaningful to creat a cassava harvester which can realise digging; joggling and pulling throught controling the pulling-up machinary.In this paper,a digging-pulling cassava harvester was designed based on the planting and biological characteristics.By the use of simulation techniques, virtual prototype of cassava harvester’s pulling-up machinary was built, finished the physical test and optimized cassava harvester’s main working parts.The results showed that the main structural parameters of cassava harvester’s pulling-up machinary are reasonable, the virtual prototype built accurately, cassava harvester’s pulling-up machinary runs smoothly and can finish related actions according to design requirements, cassava harvester’s main working parts’lightweight optimization is reasonable and effective,after optimizing, the weight of the front straight-bar; the back straight-bar; the spline axle and the cam axle reduced respectively81.6%;41.1%;51.3%and53.2%, reached the purpose of design and optimization.
