Wheat yellow dwarf is caused by Barley yellow dwarf virus, in short BYDV, causingserious economic losses to wheat. Therefore with the replacement of wheat varieties,screening resistant varieties and using botanical pesticides Simultaneously to control wheatyellow dwarf disease is of great significance for wheat high income.In2011~2013, we investigated the resistance to BYDV with the method of artificialinoculation respectively about different varieties and germplasm resources of wheat fromShaanxi. The disease index was used as a standard for evaluating susceptibility or resistanceof varieties, and we also investigated the morbidity and output effect. Besides the efficacytrail was conducted in the field using polyhydroxy dinaphthaldehyde, in short WCT. We havefollowing results:The hill plot techniquewas adopted to identify the risistance to BYDV and we found that8cultivars including Ligao6, Yanzhan4110, Xinmai13, Yumai49, Xumai856, Jinsui1,Zhongguochun and7182showed high susceptibility to BYDV for their disease index are68.9,55.2,58.5,53,55.2,51.5,55.8and53respectively while8cultivars including00zhong13,Zhong4, Xinong979, Linyou21,878, H9020-17-25-6-4, M8657-3and H9015-17-4-4showedresistance because their disease index are18.9,9.7,16.3,21.1,21.1,22.2,23.7and22.0respectively. The remaining varieties were susceptible to BYDV Hongxumai, Yumai34,Xiaobingmai and Jinmai47could recover partially later although they showed susceptibilityto BYDV at first. Besides we also found that different resistances of wheat varieties haddifferent impacts on the output and quality of wheat after they infected by BYDV.We used Xiaoyan6as tested cultivars, inoculated strain BYDV with Schizphisgraminum at wheat jointing stage, sprayed WCT aqueous solution at a dilution of500and20%Virus A wet table power at a dilution of500three times and investigated incidence anddisease index of wheat yeallow dwarf as well as height of wheat and the numbder ogyellowing leaf at Grain-filling stage, the results showed that the preventive and control effectof WCT was superior than Virus A. this showed that WCT has better preventive and controleffect on wheat yellow dwarf and it can be used in the prevention and control of production.
