This study was conducted from 2013 to 2014 in the agronomy experimental station and State Key Laboratory of Crop Biology of Shandong Agricultural University, Tai an, China.With eight peanut(Arachis Hypogaea L) cultivars of five botanical types grown under the condition of natural drought and artificial water control, which give the drought treatment in pod filling stage and pod setting stage. Research of the relationship between peanut flowering and podding characteristics and drought resistance. Clear the flowering and podding characteristics of the peanut varieties with strong drought resistance and its assessment indicators. The main results showed that:1 The difference in drought resistance of peanut varietiesDrought resistance sorting under drought in pod filling stage: Baisha 1016 > Shanhua11 > Shanhua 12 > Huayu 25 > Shanhua 9 > ICG6848 > Nongda 818 > Laibindadou. Drought resistance sorting under drought in pod setting stage: Shanhua 11 > Huayu 25 > Nongda 818 > Shanhua 12 > Shanhua 9 > Baisha 1016 >Laibindadou. > ICG6848. Shanhua 11 and Huayu 25 have good ability to resist drought in pod filling stage and drought in pod setting stage. Laibindadou has poor ability to resist both drought in pod filling and drought in pod setting stage. Nongda 818 has poor ability to resist drought in pod filling, but Nongda 818 has good ability to resist drought in pod setting stage.Nongda 818, Shanhua 12, Shanhua 9, Baisha 1016 and ICG6848 are better to resist drought in pod filling than drought in pod setting stage.2 Peanut flowering characteristicsFlowering characteristics of different peanut varieties have obvious differences, the differences of peanut varieties blossom characteristics mainly displays in flowering duration,total amount, flower peak, peak time and so on. Shanhua 9, Shanhua 11 and Shanhua 12 is larger than the others in the number of flowers with a single plant while ICG6848 is the least.ICG6848 get to the peak at first. Baisha 1016 bloom first. And have the maximum in flower peak. The flowering duration of Laibindadou is the longest. Laibindadou get to the peak at last and the peak is the minimum.3 The relationship between spatial distribution of peanut pods and drought resistanceDrought have better influence in the high section branch and high section than the low.The peanut variety has better ability to resist drought, which pod less in the high section branch and high section. Shanhua 11 has more pods in the low section branch and low section,it is better to resist drought. Baisha 1016, ICG6848 and Laibindadou have more pods in the high section branch and high section, so them are poor to resist drought.4 The relationship between pod pressure potential and drought resistancePeanut pods need a certain pressure potential to overcome the barrier of its own tension and soil. There is very difference between varieties. Pressure potential of the former room is greater than the after room. The effect to peanut pods pressure potential increased under drought condition, and former room have the same effect degree with the after room.
