Generally, the previous study shows that the European grape is more easy to take root than Chinese wild Vitis, which is caused by many reasons. This study explores the relationship between rooting and endogenous hormones based on the content of endogenous hormone. The Chinese wild Vitis in ‘Yanshan-1’ of V. yeshanesis, ‘Guangxi-1’ of V. pseudoreticulata and the V. viniffera L. of Pinot Noir, Carignane are used as materials with their semi-Woody branches as cuttings to conduct the cutting test.The results indicate that the rooting of European grapes Pinot Noir, Carignane softwood are much easier than Chinese wild Vitis ‘Yanshan-1’ of V. yeshanesis, ‘Guangxi-1’ of V. pseudoreticulata. The appearance differences of rooting express in three respect: the time of rooting; the quantity of adventitious root; the maximum length of adventitious root. V. viniffera L. of Pinot Noir grapes is the first one to take root, which has adventitious root in 5-10 d after root cutting compared with the 20-25 d of Carignane and Chinese wild Vitis Yanshan-1 of V. yeshanesis. The rooting rate of Pinot Noir and Carignane were 73.34%, 61.62% in 60 d after cutting, with the amount and maximum length of adventitious root are 40.4, 22.6 and 5.25 cm, 3.52 cm in average. Contrast with this, the rooting rate of Yanshan-1 of V. yeshanesis is 43.35% with the amount and maximum length of adventitious root are 17.7, 2.67 cm in average in 60 d after cutting. More than that, ‘Guangxi-1’ of V. pseudoreticulata turns to dark brown around 45 d after cutting and all dead in finally.In the process of the twig cuttings and rooting, the content of endogenous hormone(IAA, CTK, GA3) in cutting slips varies in different degrees. The content of IAA shows a downward trend before and after rooting. The rooting performance of Pinot Noir is the best in this study, in which the content of IAA has a significant decrease by 67.22% after cutting compared with 39.6% and 14.32% in Carignane and Yan Yanshan-1 of V. yeshanesis shan respectively. The content of CTK has a rising trend in the period of grape twig cutting and rooting, especially in Pinot Noir, which can increase to 68.57% in 60 d after cutting compared with 37.04% and 18.83% in Carignane and Yanshan-1 of V. yeshanesis respectively. For the content of GA3, the uptrend can be found in the whole process of cutting and rooting. There are 38.83%, 34.2%, 18.07% increasing in Pinot Noir, Yanshan-1 of V. yeshanesis and Carignan respectively.
