The fresh tetraploid locust leaves used as forage, containing several characteristics(relatively high water content, low content of soluble carbohydrate and high buffering capacity), which have adverse effect on silage fermentation quality. Three technical ways including reducing the water content of the fresh leaves(dry in shade), using carbohydrates-bran and sucrose as fermentation accelerator and using fermentation inhibitor(formic acid formaldehyde mixture) were applied to solve this problem. Eight randomized combination multifactor and single-factor treatments were designed in this research. The final quality of silage fermentation were compared and analyzed in order to provide detailed information for the promotion of tetraploid locust young foliage silage technology. As the results showed,(1)Each of the three methods(reducing the water content, using ferment accelerant(sucrose) and using fermentation inhibitors( formaldehyde, formic acid mixture)) improved the quality of silage fermentation to some extent as single-factor. In addition, simply reduce water content or simply use the ferment accelerant(sucrose) has adverse effects to improve the ratio of ammonia to total nitrogen. The influence of these three ways on improving the outcome of fermentation can be shown as using fermentation inhibitors> using fermentation accelerator> reducing the water content of the fermentation substrate.(2) Simply using the fermentation accelerator(the bran) is actually not a single-factor testing but contains reducing the water content as well as improving soluble sugar content. Therefore, it is far better than any other single-factor treatment.(3) The combination multifactor methods have an associative influence on improving the quality of silage fermentation. The outcome of improvement silage fermentation was observed as combination of three factors> combination of two factors> monofactorial treatment.
