Growth and carcass traits are economically important traits of beef cattle, and are controlled by multiple genes as complex quantitative traits. In this study, PSMC2(proteasome 26 S subunit, ATPase, 2) was researched in Qinchuan beef cattle of China. DNA Sequencing methods were used to detect the mutations of the gene in Qinchuan cattle. The C>G mutation in 131 th locus of amplification sequences(4495565th locus of genome sequence),A>G mutation in 198 th locus of amplification sequences(4495632th locus of genome sequence),C>G mutation in 265 th locus of amplification sequences(4495699th locus of genome sequence),C>G mutation in 285 th locus of amplification sequences(4495719th locus of genome sequence) were identified. The associations of the mutations with the growth and carcass traits of Qinchuan cattle were analyzed. The results showed that the C>G mutation in 4495565 th locus was associated with 24 h before slaughtering live weight indicators on an empty stomach,CG genotypethe was significantly higher than CC genotypethe(P<0.05), the C>G mutation in 4495699 th locus was associated with live before slaughter weight indicators and body weight, CC genotype was significantly higher than CG genotypethe and the differences significant(P<0.05), the C>G mutation in 4495719 th locus was associated with hip width and body weight, CC genotype was significantly higher than CG genotypethe at the indicators of live before slaughter weight, the differences significant(P<0.05). CC genotypethe was significantly higher than CG genotypethe at the indicators of body weight and the differences significant(P<0.01). The result showed that PSMC2 had effect on growth and carcass traits in Qinchuan beef cattle breed. Thus, our study results suggested that PSMC2 polymorphisms could be used as genetic markers in the marker-assisted selection towards the improvement of Qinchuan beef cattle.
