In recent years, a series of environmental problems such as global warming which caused by the greenhouse effect has been paid attention by the social people from all walks of life. It is the significant measure that make agricultural industry on low carbon development path that alleviate the greenhouse effect and improve the major initiatives on climate change.Based on many factors such as topography, physiognomy, climate, precipitation and so on, the rice planting area in Hubei province can be divided into three parts: the northeast of Hubei rice wine, rice production areas of Jianghan plain and the middle of Hubei rice production areas. Obtain the relevant data of rice plangting patterns in these three areas through on-the-spot investigation, then explore the low carbon rice planting mode of Hubei province. In this paper, it accounts the carbon emissions and economic costs of different rice planting pattern based on the rice planting patterns of carbon emissions and economic cost accounting method system, and the emissions reduction potential and the unit cost of different patterns has been accounted through the selected benchmark rice planting pattern, finally we can get the low-carbon rice cultivation mode which is suitable for Hubei province through the contrast analysis between different patterns of emissions reduction potential and cost differences.(1)Identified five planting measures such as agricultural mechanization degree, water management mode, fertilization habit, handling of straw and rotation systems as agricultural mode classification basis, and summarized the cultivation models of different growing areas on the basis of field investigation, then we has been got the common 20 kinds of rice planting patterns.(2)Building the carbon emissions and economic cost accounting method system of the rice planting patterns, and accounting the carbon load and economic costs of unit area and unit output about the 20 kinds of rice planting patterns. By comparing the data of different rice planting patterns, we found there is big differences among the carbon structure and economic cost of different patterns. The fertilization habits and the way of straw processing had the most impacts on carbon load, and agricultural machinery use and agricultural capital investment level determines the size of the economic costs.(3)Regard the popularity, carbon load and economic costs as evaluation indexes, we analysis and evaluation these 20 planting patterns evaluation, and selected the rice planting pattern which can most represent the planting level in Hubei province as the benchmark model, it is: rice-rapeseed rotation system, flooding irrigation, a suitable amount of fertilizer straw burning and mechanical cultivation. With the comparison of the carbon load and economic costs between the 20 kinds of rice planting patterns and the benchmark model, we got the emissions reduction potential and the unit carbon-mitigation cost of different patterns, and provided the basis for the comparison between the different modes.(4)We can draw the unit cost figures about the rice planting pattern in different areas according to the emissions reduction potential and the unit carbon-mitigation costs, then select the low carbon rice planting pattern which can reduce emissions and improve economic returns. The low carbon planting patterns in the middle of Hubei rice planting area is: rice-rapeseed rotation system, intermittent irrigation, fertilization at a moderate level, straw burning and mechanical cultivation, the low carbon planting patterns in Jianghan plain area is: fallow-rice, flooding irrigation, low nitrogen inputs, straw returned and mechanical cultivation, the low carbon planting patterns in the northeast of Hubei rice planting area is: rice-rapeseed rotation system, flood irrigation, moderate fertilizing, straw returned and mechanical cultivation.
