Design Of Breeding Management Database For Large Scale Pig Farms

With the rapid development of pig-breeding industry in recent years, computer technology has been widely spread in the large scale pig farms. Traditional manual recording and simple office software can only record the basic data. As the increasing of data and some complex queries, they will obviously powerless which cannot meet the large scale pig farms breeding management needs. Information management system is the key to solve this problem, and database is a core of the management system. Therefore, achieving digitization and information management for data by using SQL Server relational database management system, which can be improved the level of production management and production information recorded standardization. This study divided into three stages, data collection, database building and management functions realized. Data had been collected for three months in a thousand-scale pig breeding farm including 112 sows basic information, reproductive performance and production information, 1086 piglets born, weaned information, 18 boars basic information and information of 7 technicians. Database design using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and SQL Query Analyzer including installation of a relational database management system, relational database design and table design, semen collection, weaning register, weaned piglets, gilts during estrous, sows production, basic information for breeding sows, mating record, personnel and boars basic information, registration form for piglets. Using SQL language programming and storage process to implemented method of management for achieve basic queries for the semen volume, sperm motility, weaning weight, birth weight, parity, litter size and stillbirths, further development of complex queries management, such as estrus management. The relational database management system for large-scale breeding farms designed in this project could achieve basic information, query management and estrus, simplified operations through testing, which increased the pig farm information management degree, breeding rate, production levels and the efficiency of workers, and thus enhance the economic efficiency.
