In order to solve the problem that viscous alkalize solonchak soil in Inner Mongolia Tumochuan Plain exit such as soil heavy, poor crop growth, low yield problems, conducted a soil improvement experiment by mixing sand to soil plough layer to improve soil aeration water permeability. Choosing corn as indicating crops to study the effects of adding sand on soil physical-chemical properties, crop growth and yield increase, so as to explore a simple and practical technology for alkalize solonchak soil improvement to adapt to large area promotion. The results showed that mixing sand to soil plough layer in Tumochuan Plain viscous alkalize solonchak field could reduce soil bulk density, change the soil mechanical composition and soil texture, increase soil aeration porosity of viscous alkalize solonchak soil, improve soil aeration water permeability, reduce soil soluble salt and alkalization degree, improve the soil enzyme activity, promote the soil nutrient release, effectively improve growing environment of corn plants and increase the yield of corn.1.The soil bulk density with adding 20% sand decreased from 1.64 g/cm3 (CK) to 1.49 g/cm3. Soil aeration porosity increased from 8.57% to 18.17% to reach the normal range, making the soil sand, silt and clay content ratio tend to moderate. Soil texture turn from loamy clay to clay loam.Soil hardness was decreased 45%. The maximum water holding capacity, capillary water holding capacity, the minimum capacity increased 20.76%,20.76% and 20.76% respectively.2. After harvesting the crops, the pH value of plough layer decreased to 7.95. The content of soil soluble salt reducing dropped 20.49% to 9.82 g/kg. The alkalization degree was significantly decreased by 46.10%. Adding sand treatment reduced the content of soil organic matter and available N, fell by 24.44% and 47.55% respectively. However, adding sand treatment make a difference in releasing available P and available K, increased by 54.52% and 11.22% than control treatment respectively. Adding sand treatment had the greatest influence on soil enzyme activity of urease, increased by 62.90% compared with control treatment, The content of hydrogen peroxide enzyme activity is 0.89 ml/(g·20min), the content of invertase activity was 16.48 mg/(g.24 h).3.The rate of corn emergence rate was 78.75%, the survival rate reach to 96.67%. Compared with control treatment, corn plant height was increased 71.9%, stem diameter was increased 78.1%, corn yield increased 301% and economic coefficient increased 66%.Comprehensive analysis show that adding 20% sand is appropriate proportion to improve viscous alkalize solonchak soil on Tumochuan Plain.
