In order to overcome the problem of modulating hay in wet-season that the moisture can’t reach the safe degree and easily mold during storage process or leafs loss seriously during wilting. This paper study the rule of moisture retention, leaf-stem ratio and nutrition and explore the relationship between the nutrients and moisture retention.L9(34) orthogonal was designed in this experiment according to 4 factors influenced the quality of alfalfa bales, that is moisture content, density, display ways and assisted dry ways. This paper analyzed the moisture content, moldy conditions, nutrition ingredient, relative feed value(RFV) and economic value of alfalfa bales in different condition. Providing reference for fast and low cost drying for high quality alfalfa hay. Through the experimental research and analysis, conclusions are as follows:(1)During the alfalfa wilting, cut-off to moisture content of 30%, the moisture lost rapidly between initial moisture content and 30%, then lost slowly.(2)During the alfalfa wilting, content of CP, EE and RFV decreased that the nutrients lost seriously. The decrease of CP, EE, RFV is focused on 40%~15%, 50%~30%,70~40% respectively and the increase of NDF, ADF is focused on 70~ 40%.(3)During the follow-up drying, the alfalfa bales with the test condition of moisture content 20~25%, density 150kg/m3, display ways 15cm and assisted dry ways Two blower with 6h can obtain high-quality alfalfa bales.(4)According to the orthogonal test range analysis, the order of factors that influence alfalfa bales quality is moisture content more than assisted dry ways more than density more than display ways.
