As a kind of high relief crop, potato has an important position in arid and semi arid regions. For improving potato’s average yield per unit area, agronomists have put forward a pattern of micro-ridge side planting with plastic film mulching. However, this pattern is still in the stage of artificial planting which have many faults, such as transporting soil, high labor intensity and low production efficiency. In order to realize mechanization of the pattern, we studied two years. The main content are as follows:1. Based on the principle of combining agricultural machinery and agronomy, the main planting parameters on the pattern of micro-ridge side planting was adjusted. A new kind method of micro-ridge side planting was proposed which laid the design foundation for the realization of mechanization;2. The 2CM-4 type potato planter was designed based on SolidWorks and Auto CAD software, then developed a prototype. The prototype consists of frame, fertilization application device, seeding device, walking device, transmission device, sampling and shaping device, film laying device, film pressing device, soil covering device etc.3. Pretest and field test on the prototype. Test results show that:the machine can complete ditching fertilization, furrow sowing, soil ridging, and film mulching etc processes of agronomic method that meet the design requirements; at the same time, further improvement of 2CM-4 type potato planter is suggested.
