There are a certain scale in cattle husbandry in Xinjiang region, but the infection ofprotozoosis which has bad effects on the health of dairy cow has not been detailed reported, especially the three protozoosises of coccidiosis, toxoplasmasis, and trichomoniasis. Themajor contents of the study include: dairy cow cosisdiosis, toxoplasmosis and trichomoniasisare investigated in the city of Shihezi and Kuitun in the north of Xinjiang region; Oocysts ofcoccidia were collected and sporesed for positive samples, and the kinds of coccidiol wereidentified based on morphological characteristics including the spores of time, the number ofsporozoites, the size of sporocysts and some other key features. The main contents areasfollows:1. Infection investigation of dairy cow coccidiosis in parts of Kuitun and in ShiheziXinjiang:290faeces were randomly collected from five large-scale cow farms in Kuitun. Thenumber of positive samples was99, the infection rate is34.14%, the average intensity ofinfection is2273. All of the five large scale dairy farms exist the infection of coccidiosis, andthe highest infection rate is58.14%. Five large-scale dairy farms are infected by coccidiosis, eight species of coccidiosis were checked out,respectively:E.bovis(25.25%),E.zuernii(27.27%),E.ellipsoidalli(32.32%),E.cylindrce(17.17%),E.alabamensis(12.12%),E.subspherica(27.27%), E.auburnensis(15.15%), E.canadensis(10.10%),and the dominantspecies are E.ellipsoidalli, E.zuernii, E.subspherica, E.bovis.482faeces were randomlycollected from six large-scale cow farms in Shihezi, the number of positive samples was67,the infection rate is23.12%, the average intensity of infection is1366. All of the six largescale dairy farms exist the infection of coccidiosis, and the highest infection rate is21.33%;Six kinds of coccidiosis were checked out, respectively: E.bovis(59.70%), E.zuernii(46.27%),E.ellipsoidalli(68.66%), E.cylindrce(34.33%), E.auburnensis(40.30%), E.subspherica(53.73%),and the dominant specieses are E.ellipsoidalli, E.bovis and E. subspherica.3. Seroprevalence of Toxoplasma gondii infection in dairy cattle in the north of Xinjiang:660serum samples were randomly collected from11dairy farms including6dairy farms inSihezi and5dairy farms in Kuitun in the north of Xinjiang. All serum samples were examinedfor specific antibodies to T. gondii by indirect hemagglutination antibody test (IHA). Theseroprevalence of T. gondii in dairy cattle was15.30%(101/660) in the northern Xinjiang,13.87%in Shihezi and17.27%in Kuitun. Each farm exists the infection of T. gondii, and thehighest infection rate is26.79%. Comparing each age level of cow, dairy cattle which were <5years old or≥3years old had the highest seroprevalence of33.33%, and dairy cattle whichwere2month old had the lowest of7.22%. The seroprevalences were not significantlydifferent among the different age groups (P>0.05).4. Infection investigation of dairy cow trichomoniasis in parts of Shihezi in Xinjiang:70 vaginal secretions were collected from5large-scale dairy farms in Shihezi, Trichomonasfoetus were not cheked out.
