This test conducted in Western Liaong Sandy Semi-Arid Aera where severely suffers soil and winderosion,with limited and season unevenly distributed precipitation,and faces frequent drought threat, thethesis is to provide a possible solutions with3ways of micro water catchment treatment(MWCT)compared with traditional planting pattern (CK),by which ridge covered with plastic film(Tr1),ridge\drill covered with plastic film (Tr2)and ridge covering plastic film while drill covered with straw(Tr3).The results are as follows:(1) Micro Water Catchment Tchnology (MWCT) brings positive effect on soil temparature and moistureconservation,Tr2is proved to be best in terms of moisture conservation in which average soil moisturecontent in the whole development stages of corn increased by2.33%than CK, and field waterconsumption reduced20.8mm;followed by Tr3,with average moisture incresed by1.76%andconsumpition reduced16.94mm; Tr1increaed moisture by1.47%and water consumption reduced12.13mm. Copmared to CK, T2, T3, and T1reduced water reqiurments respectively by81.65mm,69.21mmand48.46mm, the average crop coefficient is lowered respectively by0.13,0.17and0.10. than control.(2) Drill covered film or direct planting can obviously increase soil temperature. Compared to CK, drillcoverred with straw have barely effect in raising soil temperature. T2is most effctive in raising soiltemperature,followed by T1, and T3. In general, the sequence of average soil temperature during corngrowth period is T2> T1> CK> T3, increased by2.41℃, T1increased by1.98℃, decreased by0.22℃.In sunny days Tr1and Tr2can significantly raise soil temperature than control. Straw brings negativeeffect in soil temperature,though no big diffrence in soil temperature is observed between Tr3and CK.In cloudy days,howvever,differences among the4treatments is relatively smaller.(3) Either MWCT can improve corn seedling emergence rate.T2and T1can also shorten maizeemergence period, while T3took longger time than CK. Compared with controls, T2and T1canpromote maize plant height and leaf area growth, which is beneficial to dry matter accumulation, in earlydevelopment phazeT3grew somehow slower due to lower temperature, but caught up quickly later inlater period by higher soil moisture and soil texture.In later development phaze, the decline trends of corn chlorophyll content sequence is T2> CK> T1>T3, mainly because that Tr2caused early aging, while Tr1and Tr3can elongate deline of chlorophyllcontent and slow leaf aging accordingly.(4) T2and T3can increase corn yield, grain number and100grain weight. However neither treatmentcan increaese significantly in kernel length,kernel diameter and maize row number. Water consumption with MWCT isreduced, and water use efficiency in Tr2Tr3and Tr1increase obviously by27.74%,25.39%and12.91%.
