Tractor is the main agricultural production machinery in our country. The tractor ownership is continuously increased year by year. However, the problems of energy consumption and environmental pollution which are caused by traditional tractors have made our country suffer a huge challenge. It embodies in the strategies of energy conservation and environmental protection and sustainable development. The traditional tractors are with the problems of high oil consumption, high emissions, and the complicated transmissions. As a new type of agricultural machinery, pure electric tractor can be used to overcome the disadvantages of traditional tractors completely.As a result, the research about the design method of electric tractor’s driving system is of important theoretical significance and practical value.Based on the comparative analysis for six kinds of electric drive, a new structure of electric tractor’s driving system has been designed. By analyzing and comparing of different types of energy storage device and electric motors, the types of traction motor and power battery are determined on the basis of electric tractor’s characteristics. The theoretical models of drive system’s major parts have been established. The design methods of electric tractor’s major parts have been put forward under the plough operating mode. The transmission has been simplified. The speed rate of each gear is determined according to the different load rates. Taking the XT120 tractor as example.A set of parameters of electric tractor’s driving system have been achieved through the design method. The theoretical performance analysis of electric tractor’s driving system has been carried on through MATLAB according to the overall parameters of electric tractor. The analysis calculation shows that the electric tractor’s driving system does not need to shift frequently and the labor intensity of the drivers is reduced.Within the range of effective traction, the electric tractor gives full play to its operation ability. The continuous operation time of electric tractor reaches the expected design target(4 h). The simulation models of electric tractor’s driving system are established based on CRUISE. The traction performance and continuous operation time of electric tractor have been carried on the simulation analysis. Compared the simulation results and the programming calculation results, the conclusion shows that their values are basically consistent. The result further validates the rationality of the driving system scheme.
