Effects Of Bagging On The Qualities Of Oriental Melon

Bagging as an important method to produce green fruit and advance commodity value of fruit is widely used in fruit production. The report of application on Oriental melon is scarce. Such as ‘LUkui’、‘Chaotianbaijin’、‘Balipiaoxiang’ and ‘Feiyue’, I took these experiments in northern greenhouses in order to study the effect of bagging on appearance quality、nutritional quality、aroma、carbohydrate and sucrose metabolism related enzyme of Oriental melon, including effect on microenvironment in bags, type of bags most suitable for Oriental melon. Test uses white, red, green, blue and black five kinds of plastic bags, Sulfuric acid paper and Kraft paper bags, totally seven kinds of fruit bags. Provide theoretical and technical basis for bagging technology in planting Melon. The specific test results are as follows:1. Studies of different materials within the micro environment of fruit pocketed:Light intensity in the seven kinds of bags are all reclined, the Kraft paper bag reclined the most and the white plastic bag reclined the least. Bagging with all the texture bags could increase the humidity in the bags in sunny days and reduced the CO2 concentration in the bag. However, the effect of the temperature in the bag is not obvious. Among them, the most suitable for Oriental melon’s growth is the microclimate in the Parchment.2. The effect of Oriental melon fruit’s appearance quality on bagging:Longitudinal diameter, diameter, flesh thickness and fruit weight showed a continued upward trend and the fruit shape index did not change during the growth of bagging and comparison fruit. Seven different materials bags all improved the fruit color, the finish and the skin color uniformity. Only in the parchment and white plastic bags increased the fruit size and weight, improved the appearance of the quality of the fruit.3. The effect of Oriental melon fruit’s nutritional quality on bagging: During the fruit’s growth process, Nutrient content of the fruit had similar trends between the bagging and comparison.The fruits of bagging parchment that soluble protein 、free amino acids、 soluble solids and vitamin C were increased up 4.87%、16.18%、 2.13% and 24.36%. and decreased the content of soluble sugars, organic acids and starch, between, the fruits bagged by the parchment and white plastic bags had the better nutrient content, fruits in the parchment bag had the most content of aroma substances for 95.52%. The fruits of melon breed of ‘Lvkui’ had the better nutritional quality and the fruits of melon breed of ‘Feiyue’ had the poor melon nutritional quality.4. During the fruit’s growth process, the content of the Chlorophyll, the Carotenoids and the Flavonoids in the fruit’s peel had the same change between the bagging and comparison, showed a continued upward trend. The fruit peel bagged by the parchment had the better color, The parchment make the cholorophll content of melon fruit peel were increased up 23.53%.The fruit’s peel of melon breed of ‘Lvkui’had the better color and the fruit’s peel of melon breed of ‘Feiyue’ had the poor color.5. The effect of Oriental melon fruit’s sugar and sucrose metabolism related enzymes on bagging:The content of sucrose of the fruit had a significant trends between the bagging and comparison, the content of fructose and glucose of the fruit do not had a significant trends between the bagging and comparison, the activity of sucrose synthase, sucrose phosphate synthase, neutral invertase and acid invertase of the fruit had a significant trends between the bagging and comparison. At the time of fruit ripening, bagging all decreased the content of the three kinds of sugar and the activity of the four kinds of sucrose metabolism related enzymes in the fruits. Among them the parchment is relatively the most suitable bags for Oriental melon’s bagging and the melon breed of “Lvkui’ is relatively the most suitable breed for bagging.Comprehensive comparison:The parchment srelatively the most suitable bags for Oriental melon’s bagging and the melon breed of ‘Lvkui’ is relatively the most suitable breed for bagging.
