The creeping bentgrass(Agrostis stolonifera) belong to creeping bentgrass in gramineae, which is herbaceous plant. It is best known for its texture and adaptation to closely mown, which makes it well suited for use on high qulity golf courses, grass court, bowling green, home lawns and parks. This amenity grass is susceptible to a wide range of disease, which significantly lowering the quality of creeping bentgrass. Control of plant diseases is notorious for the large amounts of pesticides used. Inducer apply to defense plant disease is another research focuse and have broad application prospects.In this paper, the effects of resistance induced by 2, 3-butanediol(2, 3-BD) and 2R, 3R-butanediol(2R, 3R-BD) against Rhizoctonia solani in creeping bentgrass were investigated.(1) The result showed that creeping bentgrass treated with 2, 3-BD and 2R, 3R-BD before inoculated with Rhizoctoniasolan, application of 2, 3-BD at 250 μmol/L had the best induction effect, the disease index decreased from 92 of the control to 12.67, the resistance effect to the disease can reached 86.08%. 2R, 3R-BD at 100 μmol/L had the best induction effect, the disease index decreased from 92 of the control to 27.2, the resistance effect to the disease can reached 70.33%.(2) 2, 3-BD at 250 μmol/L and 2R, 3R-BD at 100 μmol/L can significantly decreased the incidence of creeping bentgrass inoculated with Rhizoctoniasolan. It showed a trend of decreasing in earlier stage(1-3 days) and increasing in later stage of the content of ascorbic acid(As A), while the content of dehydroascorbic acid(DHA) was increased compared to control after 1 day and 9 day of inoculation. Simultaneously, after dealt with 2, 3-BD and 2R, 3R-BD, the As A/DHA ratio was increased to 5.0, 3.4 times that of control after 5 days after inoculation, respectively. 2, 3-BD and 2R, 3R-BD resulted in higher content of glutathione(GSH), while the ratios of GSH/GSSG was 2.34, 1.66 times compared with the control after 9 days of inoculation. The results suggest that 2, 3-BD and 2R, 3R-BD induce resistance against Rhizoctonia solani of creeping bentgrass, which involves ascorbate-glutathione cycle maintain efficient metabolism and participate plant disease resistance reaction.(3) The pathogenesis-related enzymes were tested after induced by 2, 3-BD and 2R, 3R-BD. The result showed that 2, 3-BD and 2R, 3R-BD enhanced the superoxide dismute(SOD) and decreased the catalase(CAT) acticities after 1-3 days of inoculation, while the SOD activities was decreased and CAT activities was increased after 5-9 days of inoculation. The activities of glutathione reductase(GR) and ascorbate peroxidase(APX) was raised, but APX activity increase were lower than control after dealt with 2, 3-BD and 2R, 3R-BD. 2, 3-BD at 250 μmol/L and 2R, 3R-BD at 100 μmol/L was applied to creeping bentgrass increased the activities of phenylalanine ammonia-lyase(PAL), chalcone isomerase(CHI) and 4-coumarate: Co A ligase(4CL),which the PAL activity was increased to 39.25, 42.06 U/(min·g.FW) after 1 days of inoculation, the CHI activity could reach 357.33, 335.11U/(h·g.FW) after 3 days of inoculation, the activity of 4CL was 44.04, 41.91 U/(min·g.FW) after 7 days of inoculation. 2R,3R-BD and 2,3-BD induced resistance against brown patch of creeping bentgrass and changed activities of SOD, CAT, APX, GR, PAL, CHI, 4CL, which were closely related to the increased resistance.(4) 2, 3-BD at 250 μmol/L and 2R, 3R-BD at 100 μmol/L was applied to creeping bentgrass increased the content of total phenolics, flavonoid and lignin, which the content of total phenolics was increased to 1.087, 1.02 mg/(g·FW) after 5 days of inoculation, the content of flavonoid could reach 0.027, 0.049 mg/(g·FW) after 9 days of inoculation, the content of lignin was 0.599, 0.606 OD280/(g.FW) after 11 days of inoculation. The results suggest that the content of total phenolics, flavonoid and lignin in creeping bentgrass are related to resistant reaction of creeping bentgrass to Rhizoctoniasolani, and it is considered a biochemical response of 2, 3-BD and 2R, 3R-BD induce resistance against Rhizoctonia solani of creeping bentgrass...
