To realize the mechanized crushing operation and improve the crushing efficiency in used agaric virgulate medium processing, a prototype machine of mechanical tooth crusher was developed in this study.1.With the virgulate medium of agaric after cultivating as test material, shearing and compression mechanical tests were carried out in the universal test machine. The results showed that moisture content was the key natural factor influencing shear intensity and compressive intensity. When the virgulate’s average moisture content was 11.75%,21.16% and 27.68%,the average shear intensity was 29.4KPa、20KPa、14.5KPa,respectively. When the virgulate’s average moisture content was 14.3%,24%,their average compressive intensity was 144.7KPa、77.7KPa, respectively. The moisture content of virgulate medium shows exponential relationship with shear intensity and compressive intensity. Both of these conclusions can provide the basis of crushing machinery developing and crushing parameters selection.2.According to the results of the used virgulate medium of agaric mechanical property test, crushing stick and the cutting knife were designed. based on the machine’ working principle, the study was carried out which involves radial stress of virgulate medium of agaric, axial transport velocity and cutting angle of cutting knife.3.To check the feasibility of this design through analysising crushing performance, thres hing performance and output, experiments were carried out on the testbed. The results show ed that when the dip was constant, the varieties of rotation rate made the strongest unique contribution to crushing performance, threshing performance and output. As the rotation rat e rose, crushing performance and threshing performance were increased and output was decr eased.The research results can provide references for the overall design.
