In this research, sewage sludge from municipal wastewater and pig manure from livestock breeding were composted and used as media of soilless sod with two strains of bacillus amyloliquefaciens; NJAUYL-25 and NJZLSB3 at the Provincial Key Lab of Organic Solid Waste Utilization. This research provided a new way to comprehensively utilize organic solid waste. The results of the research are as follows:Research of the ratio of sewage sludge and pig manure in the soilless sod media showed that the tall fescue (F. arundinacea Schreb.) turf quality got better when the ratio of sewage sludge in the soilless sod media was increased. Comparing the physiological index such as the biomass, fresh weight, dry weight; sewage sludge was selected as the soilless sod media.NJAUYL-25 bio-organic fertilizer and NJZLSB3 bio-organic fertilizer were developed with the material of sewage sludge and pig manure as the carrier. The study confirmed that the pig manure was the most suitable carrier for the growth-promoting strains. After the secondary fermentation of one week, the living bacteria in NJAUYL-25 bio-organic fertilizer was reached up to 7.8 X 108 CFU/g while the living bacterial in NJZLSB3 bio-organic fertilizer was reached 8.0×108 CFU/g.Different percentages of NJAUYL-25 bio-organic fertilizer were added to the soilless sod media to get the most suitable proportion in the soilless tall fescue sod media. The weight of the trimmed tall fescue shoot, SPAD, fresh weight and dry weight of tall fescue were tested. Considering the quality of the soilless tall fescue sod and the cost of the production, the most appropriate ingredient of the soilless sod media was sewage sludge with 1% NJAUYL-25 bio-organic fertilizer.The quality of the soilless sod was assessed with the 9-score system. The bio-organic soilless tall fescue sod scored significantly higher than other treatments. The treatments with 1% NJAUYL-25 bio-organic showed the highest roots activity, sucrose activity, cellulose activity, urease activity, phosphatase activity and dehydrogenase activity than other treatments. The strain NJZLSB3 was selected from low temperature environment, its effect on the plant growth promotion was unstable under the experimental conditions; however, the root activity and several enzyme activities were higher that the treatments without bio-organic fertilizer added.NJAUYL-25 bio-organic fertilizer soilless sod media was applied on other turf grass cultivars such as tall fescue-3 A and Bermuda grass Dynasty. Through turf quality assessment, the NJAUYL-25 bio-organic fertilizer soilless sod media was well-applied to these two breeds, showing the universality of NJAUYL-25 bio-organic fertilizer soilless sod media.
