Colour-leaved trees are very important ornamental trees for making landscape architecture. Developed countries have done a lot in breeding and cultivation of colour-leaved trees for hundreds of years, but the research started late in China. Zhejiang is a very big province in breeding gardening seedlings, which is undertaking the construction projects such as "Forest Zhejiang" and "plain afforestation". Considering the present situation of greening work, urban and road greening along with the providing of flower seedlings have become a new industry. This industry has already become a part of China national economy, and a new economic growth point for increasing agricultural efficiency and income of farmers in the last few years. The city of Huzhou is located in the subtropical monsoon climate zone with mild climate and plenty of rain water, and is very rich in vegetation. The Longwangshan Natural Reserve in Huzhou have a variety of plants of 165 families, 654 genuses and more than 1,400 species, and contains abundant resources of native wild colour-leaved tree species, which provides a well-estblished basis for the development and utilization of native colour-leaved trees resources in Huzhou City. This research is based on broadly collecting and studying of the previous investigation of flora and vegetation database, and is focused on systematicly supplementary investigation, evaluating and screening on native colour-leaved trees species in Huzhou. Results showed that the plants in Huzhou contains north temperate distribution, East-Asian and North-American discontinuity distribution and East-Asian distribution. There are 44 families, 88 genuses and 146 species of native wild colour-leaved trees, respectively occupies 54.9%, 44.0% and 21.3% of native tree species in Huzhou. These native colour-leaved trees contains 99 species of arbors with 14 evergreen trees and 85 deciduous trees, 38 species of shrubs with 10 evergreen trees and 28 deciduous trees, and 9 species of deciduous vine plants(containing climbing shrubs). 28 preferred species of colour-leaved trees were sorted with scores from a quantitative evaluation. 10 of them with high value of ornamental were highly recommended to have the priority of developing, which could provide references for choosing ornamental trees in urban and rural construction of Huzhou.
