There is a long history for planting fabe bean in Jiangsu Province. Fabe bean is one of the important economic crops, which occupy 4.6% of the total area of crops in Jiangsu Province. Jiangsu has rich resources of edible beans and covers an area of 9.2 ×10 4hm2 for planting faba bean every year. The yield per unit area per year in Jiangsu Province are among the forefront of China producing areas. Chocolate spot, ascochyta bilght, rust, leaf spot and virus diseases infecting faba bean are the common diseases in Jiangsu producing area. This study investigate the effects of different fungicides in controlling faba bean chocolate spot disease to screen suitable fungicides applying in production and identify the main diseases in Jiangsu. The results are as follows:(1) Identification of the diseases infecting faba bean in Jiangsu Province.We identified the broad bean pathogens infecting fabe bean planting area in Jiangsu Province by micrograph, PCR, Then chocolate spot, ascochyta bilght, rust, leaf spot diseases were found in faba bean. The fabe bean with chlorisis and mottle mosaic from JAAS greenhouse was found to be caused by Broad bean wilt virus 2(BBWV2). BBWV2 is one kind of important viruses which causing the disease in broad bean product area. We observed the characteristics of BBWV2 infecting fabe bean and causing some physiological changes in bean leaf by transmission electron microscopy. The characteristics of pathogens were observed and analyzed. A set of fast methods to identify pathogens and to control the fabe bean diseases were given.(2) Research on control of chocolate spot.Chocolate spot of faba bean is an important disease in the world. When the climate is suitable, this disease become serious. Botrytis fabiopsis grow on PDA culture medium, and was observed the characteristic of the pathogens. We used seven kinds of pesticides to do the Laboratory efficacy test to find the most effective pesticide to inhibition the Botrytis fabiopsis by two methods. One is growth rate method, another is inhibition zone method. We used six common kinds of broad bean and eight kinds of fungicides to do Field Trial. The results showed Trichoderma and Jinggang mycin Bacillus subtilis had the best inhibition effective to pathogens and Carbendazim was not useful to the pathogens. From the field experiment we found that 80%M-45 and Baitai were the best fungicides for controlling faba bean chocolate spot.
