A Retrospective Study Of 838 Clinical Cases Of Canine Distemper In Tianjin Region

Canine distemper(CD)infected canine, glaze, raccoon family and other animals was an acute, febrile, high contagious disease which is caused by canine distemper virus(CDV). The infectivity and morbidity is very high that can be to 80%. It is an important disease to dogs with secondary infection. In recent years, with the development of society, the epidemics changed from pandemic into sporadic with pet dogs feeding increased dramatically.This study analysis the incidence, immunity, age, sex, season, living areas, and the clinical treatment by 838 cases of canine distemper of 30 pet hospitals in 10 area of Tianjin from January 2013 to December 2014.The results were as follows:(1)CD has a number of higher incidence in February, March,October,and November, with the highest incidence of 166 cases(19.81%)in February, followed by March, 107 cases(12.77%).The incidence of several of October, November and June, was respectively 90(10.74%), 85(10.14%), and 82(9.79%) cases.(2)The incidence of CD was different in suburbs. Jinnan, Xiqing and Hongqiao District were higher,which was 143 cases(17.06%), 132 cases(15.75%) and 106 cases(12.65%) respectively.(3)The incidence of CD was higher in 2-4 months and 5-7 months of age dogs, with 317 cases(37.83%)and 268 cases(31.98%), respectively.The incidence of CD was lower in less 2 months and over 5 years of age with 32 cases(3.82%)and 9 cases(1.07%),respectively.(4)The incidence of CD was not significantly between male and female dog with 427 cases(50.95%)and 411 cases(49.05%), respectively. However, The incidence of CD was higher in purebred dogs(479 cases) than mongrel dogs(359 cases).(5)The incidence of CD was significantly between immunized and non-immunized dogs with 332(43.68%). The incidence of CD was decline in immunized two times(114 cases) to one time(246 cases).(6) CD could be divided into three main types based on clinical symptoms: pneumonia, enteritis, and nervous type. Among them, the pneumonia-type was highest with 228 cases(27.21%), neurological type was lowest with 39 cases(4.65%).(7) the mainly treatment of CD used CDV monoclonal antibody injection with symptomatic treatment, administered separately according to different clinical symptom. Among them, the cure rate(27.27%) is the highest to pneumonia,, followed by enteritis(22.54%). the cure rate of three kinds of symptoms(4.69%) is lowest.In conclusion, The occurrence was more concentrated in the fall and winter and spring alternately season in Tianjin area. The incidence of CD was higher in younger dogs than older dogs as well as the purebred dogs than mongrel dogs; There was no relationship between male and female. In addition, the cure rate of pneumonia-type CD is the highest,the incidence of neuronal is the lowest.
