Maize is one of the most important food crops, occupies a very important position in agricultural production in china. Maize fluid seeding is drought resistance sowing, it sows seeds within carriers which was composed of water, Super absorbent polymer and it can effectively save water, protect seeds and increase yield. The previously developed fluid seeding machine lays seeds in a short strip and hill spacing was uneven which restricts the popularization and application of the technology. So it is significant to design and optimize fluid hill-drop metering mechanism and its parameters, to improve the seeding quality. The main contents and conclusions of this paper are as follows:1) The water content, volume and weight at different soaking time were measured and the results showed that the weight and volume tends to be stable at soaking time of 16 to 20h.2) The optimal amount of air of 3L/min for agitating was determined to get a better suspension of seeds in gel.3) A maize fluid hill-drop seeder, was designed which agitates seeds in gel with pressured air. A intermittent mechanism was designed to drive the cable tray type metering device. The transmission system and other parts was designed and the prototype was manufactured.4) Single factor experiments of forward speed, gel concentration and air quantity on hill space, variation coefficient, seeds per hill, and the qualified rate were carried out and the results showed that the seeds was even and the hill space was 238.5mm which is close to the requirement and the coefficient of variation CV is 13.75%, at forward speed of 1.Om/s, gel concentration of 0.15%, air quantity of 3L/min, and the seeding rate is 1 ~ 3 grains per hill, missing rate is 10% and seed qualified rate is 85%...
