Compression frequency and three-dimensional stress of the compression chamber affects the productivity and structure size of hay baler directly, so it is the main design parameters. The research uses the 9KG-350 high density baler as testing equipment and Leymus chinenses as testing materials whose piece was formed in one feedind to explore the relationship between compression frequency and the three-dimensional stress in opening compression. After collecting the three stress data that are in three mutually perpendicular directions of the herbage material in hay baler during its working process with the film pressure sensor and its matching data acquisition card, we analyze the relationship among them and their variation trend in different compression frequency. The results show that in the same compression frequency, the three-dimensional stress values are exponentially with the time variation; different compression frequency change the value of the three-dimensional stress, but have no significant effects on the variation regulation of the three-dimensional stress. Simply raising the compression frequency will change the x-stress, thus affecting the other two stresses. At the higher compression frequency, the sensitivity of the y-stress and the z-stress to the stress change of the x-stress is increased. It could help to choosing compression frequency, and provides scientific basis of structural design and improving productivity.
