Pyrularia edulis, belongs to the Santalaceae and Santalum L, it is a kind of deciduous tree. In our country, its mainly distribution areas includes the high altitude area of 1200 m~3600 m natural broad-leaved forest in Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan sporadically distribute. The distribution of natural resources are scarce, and most of them are scattered. In the existing research about P. edulis, they are mainly showed that it is edible for its fruits and its nut contains the rich oil and other economic value. The study through the survey of distribution and growing surrounding of P. edulis in the Doupeng mountain forest area of Badagongshan natural reserve and analysis of sample trees uses correlation analysis method to study the environmental factors on its growth conditions including diameter at breast height (DBH), tree height as well as tree product, and the growth laws while the growing model of its above conditions is established. At the same time, weight-loss method, weight-increase method and gas chromatography are applied respectively to analysis for moisture content, oil content and the chief composition and content of fatty acid of its nuts. It is aimed at providing data support and theoretical reference for planting P.edulis as economic tree, which has great significance for improving its ecological and economical values. At the same time, it can also provide a theoretical basis for the protection, restoration and sustainable development of forest ecosystem in the Badagongshan natural reserve. (1) P.edulis in Badagongshan Nature Reserve, its elevationis mainly distribution area is between 1590 m and 1720 m, most of are scattered. Within the scope of this paper, the volume growth of P.edulis is increasing along with the slope increasing. In the communities of P.edulis, the common associated species are Carpinus viminea Lindl, Sassafras tzumu, Cyclobalanopsis multinervis. etc (2) From the growth curves of P.edulis, it belongs to the slow growing species, the current annual increment of DBH reaches the maximum value at about 22 years, but the increment of current annual and the average of tree’s height reaches the maximum time earlier than DBH;By the different ages of P.edulis’growth curve, it shows a rising trend, and the average growth curve and the current annual increment curve did not intersect. From these, we known that P.edulis reached the mature age lately, during its production operation, we should pay attention to take intermediate cuttings timely to ensure the stand productivity.(3) Diameter at breast height growth model:D=-0.718+0.486t-0.002t2; Height growth model:H=21.560(1-e0.023t)0.800 Volume growth model:V=2.727-2.984t+0.408t2;(4) The moisture content of P.edulis nuts is 18.74%, the oil content is between 10% to 12%, and the content of unsaturated fatty acid is 90.91%, it is a kind of potential oil plant resources.(5) P.edulis suitable for growing in high altitude, and the range of slope is 32°~38°, the site conditions is sunny slope and uphill bits. In this environment, P.edulis will grow faster, the stock volume of forest will also increase, moreover, influenced by canopy density of bush layer and vegetation coverage of herb layer, if you want to tend and protect the P.edulis, you must consider the stand thinning and environment, In addition to that, water and fertilizer management is also need to pay attention. All of these, the purpose is to ensure that the volume ratio of stands.
